We love roses all year round, but National Rose Month comes only once per year. This June, to celebrate this special occasion, Boyd’s Flowers has the colorful roses and beautiful bouquets that are sure to convey your affection. From sunny yellows to vibrant pinks, the roses of summer are unmatched in their beauty – and we are excited to help you to send the perfect flowers to some very important people.

Roses have a very interesting story. For instance, there are over 150 varieties of rose, but not a single one grows south of the equator – every single rose type is from the northern hemisphere. And the diversity among these flowers is stunning, with some having buds as small as a grain of rice, and others boasting flower heads over two feet across. Roses can grow for extraordinary periods of time – a wild dog rose bush growing on the wall of Hildesheim in Germany has been growing for nearly 1,200 years according to records. And a White Banksia rosebush in Tombstone, Arizona has grown so large that it showcases over 200,000 flowers when in full bloom.
The rose is the national flower of England, Honduras, Iran, Poland, Romania, and the United States. It is the official state flower of Georgia, Iowa, New York, North Dakota, and the District of Columbia.
Mysterious Blooms: The state flower of Georgia, the Cherokee Rose, actually originated in China. Scholars are not sure how it managed to be in Georgia in 1788, when it was discovered.

Someone once said “I’d rather have roses on my table than diamonds on my neck”. If you agree that roses are very special flowers, then National Rose Month is a great time to put some on your table! Call Boyd’s Flowers – we deliver throughout the Wilmington area.
Beautiful, colorful roses for your home are just a phone call away.
